Easter Supports

Like many services, CoMHWA and Peer Pathways will be closed over the Easter long weekend. We recognise that finding supports around public holidays can be a challenge, so we have put together this handy guide on where you can seek support at any stage over the long weekend. 

CoMHWA and the Peer Pathways helpline will re-open at 9am, Tuesday 22nd April. 

 

COMMUNITY EVENTS, MEALS & ACTIVITIES 

Activate Mental Health – Easter Saturday Walk around Tomato Lake 

  • Join for a walk around Tomato Lake, coffee and Easter eggs. 

  • Date & Time: Saturday 19 April, 2pm (meet by the playground closest to the café). 

  • Location: Tomato Lake, Kewdale 

 

Activate Mental Health – Easter Monday Walk at Hyde Park 

  • Join for 3-4 laps around Hyde Park, coffee and Easter eggs. 

  • Date & Time: Monday 21 April, 10am (meet at the corner of Glendower and Palmerston streets, near roundabout) 

  • Location: Hyde Park, North Perth. 

 

Freo Street Kitchen  

  • Freo Street Kitchen is grassroots community service, they will be offering free community breakfasts and dinners throughout the Easter break.  

  • Date & Time: Every day between 18 and 25 April.  

  • Location: Beach Street Carpark, Fremantle Hyde Park, North Perth. 

 

SAGE (Social Autism Group Events)  

  • SAGE is a social group run by autistic for autistic people, you don’t need a formal diagnosis to join and support people are welcome. They will events running throughout the Easter long weekend.   

You can search for other events that meet your needs and interests on websites such as Meetup, Befriend and Eventbrite, as well as your local council or community pages. 

 

DROP IN 

Medicare Mental Health Centre – Armadale & Midland 

  • Free, walk-in mental health service that can provide immediate support to reduce distress, in-house assessment, treatment and support, and connect you with the most appropriate ongoing support. 

  • Referrals and appointments not needed, however if preferred appointments can be arranged by calling or contacting through online form. 

  • Hours: 10am – 8pm, every day of the year 

  • Locations: 65 Church Avenue, Armadale, 23 Old Great Northern Hwy, Midland 

 

 

Blackwood Safe Space 

  • Community-led Safe Spaces are ‘drop-in’ style spaces that offer a non-clinical alternative to services such as emergency departments for people experiencing emotional distress or suicidal crisis.  

  • Hours: Sundays 12pm -3pm 

  • Location: 16 Hester Street, Bridgetown 

 

Busselton Community Safe Space  

  • BCSS is a ‘drop in’ style space for people struggling with emotional their emotional wellbeing and/or suicidal thoughts. Run by volunteers with a lived experience of suicide and welcome everyone without judgment.  

  • Hours: Fridays 5pm – 9pm  

  • Location: 226 Bussell Highway, Busselton 

 

 

Hope House Safe Space 

  • Drop in style nonclinical space, all volunteers have lived experience of mental health.  

  • Hours: Sundays 5pm – 9pm  

  • Location: 9 Ramsay Street, Bunbury 

 

 

 CRISIS LINES 

Lifeline 

  • Telephone support line staffed by trained volunteers for people who are struggling or experiencing a personal crisis. Text and webchat support also available via website. 

  • Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

13YARN 

  • Confidential, anonymous and culturally safe support line for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people in crisis. Staffed by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Crisis Supporters.

Brother to Brother Crisis Line 

  • Provides phone support for Aboriginal men who need someone to talk to about relationship issues, family violence, parenting, drug and alcohol issues or who are struggling to cope for other reasons. 

  • The line is staff by Aboriginal men, including Elders, who have a lived experience of similar issues. 

  • Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Crisis Care 

  • Provides information, advice, support and intervention for people in crisis and seeking urgent help around child protection concerns, family and domestic violence, suicidal ideation and homelessness.

Suicide Call Back Service 

  • Free telephone, video and online counselling with professionally trained counsellors who have specialist skills in working with suicide-related issues.

1800 RESPECT 

  • Confidential information, counselling and support service to support people impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence. 

  • Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

CAMHS Crisis Connect 

  • Provides phone and online videocall support for children and young people aged 17 years and under who are experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as support and advice to families and carers.

Hayat Line 

  • Hayat Line is a free and confidential crisis support line for Muslims in Australia supporting individuals when experiencing a personal crisis or emotional distress.

Standby – Support After Suicide 

  • Free support for anyone who has experienced a suicide loss. You can meet face to face or talk over the phone.

  • Free, confidential phone counselling service for young people aged 5 – 25.

Peer Care Companion Warmline 

  • A call-back service for people with a lived experience of suicide to connect with a Peer with a similar lived experience. 

  • You can leave a message with the service and a Peer Care Companion will return your call within 48 hours (not a crisis service).

Mensline 

  • Offers free professional telephone counselling support for men with concerns about mental health, anger management, family violence (using and experiencing), addiction, relationships, stress and wellbeing.

  • Free phone support for anyone experiencing grief and loss. You can also request a call back from a trained grief support volunteer at a time that suits you.

  • Provides telephone counselling and support to adult survivors of childhood trauma and abuse.

  • For expecting, new parents and support people looking for a safe, caring, confidential space to talk.

  • Bereavement support line for parents, grandparents, friends and family experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or baby.

E-friend (ICLU) 

  • Free service that allows people who are feeling low, lonely or isolated to access virtual peer support sessions via video or phone call. 

Headspace Online 

  • Young people between the age of 12-25 can chat privately with a headspace counsellor over the phone or webchat, seven days a week between 9am – 1am (AEDT). 

ReachOut Youth 

  • Free text-based support with a peer worker available for anyone in Australia aged between 18-25. Book a free chat session on the website. 

  • ReachOut also has an online community forum for young people where you can share your experience, learn from others and support each other. 

Sane Forums 

  • Online lived experience forum where you can Share your story and find friendship chatting with others going through mental health issues.
